e2 (little “e”) is a social enterprise whose primary project is to set up an interface for the flow of data and embodied knowledge across social-ecological systems.

About us

e2 is a creative digital studio and technology startup based in Liverpool, UK.

We visualise data, develop experimental web interfaces, produce installations and deliver research projects and workshops on behalf of arts and research organisations around socio-ecological carrying capacity. Amongst other processes we utilise IoT sensors, geospatial data and web 3.0 technologies to facilitate design thinking processes and develop learning resources as well as organise and support land-based practitioners to gather and present data for their own learning or to other parties.

We exist only through collaboration with others; scientists (both academic and citizen), other technology startups and artists or designers, as well as land based practitioners and organisations. Our work has been displayed at or facilitated through institutions in Taiwan (Digital Arts Center Taipei), Indonesia (Surabaya University), London (W1 Curates, Thames Festival and Bermondsey Project Space) and the Northwest of England (FACT Liverpool, AND Festival, Metal Liverpool and Open Eye Gallery)

Adam Sadiq - Director

Adam is a multidisciplinary technologist and designer whose work focuses on the field of social-ecological futures. He has built infrastructures to support IoT data capture and developed presentations for data visualisation and sonification in software such as Max MSP. He has a background in digital fabrication, sustainable design and documentary photography, which he has used to develop installations, learning resources and urban farms amongst other things. More recently he has worked with geospatial data processing and front-end web interfaces such as Cesium.js to develop learning resources and public tools for researchers and citizen scientists.

In directing e2, Adam hopes to develop useful tools to improve cross-collaboration between practitioners who aim to improve the carrying capacity of social-ecological systems in the next generation. When he isn’t thinking about this Adam spends time with his young family, hikes and takes photographs.

Reuben Jones - Lead Developer

Reuben is a full stack developer within e2. After graduating in 2020 with a computer science degree (1:1), and having done a dissertation in using machine learning to spot cardiac anomalies within patient smartwatch data, he has worked on a range of projects for e2. Over this time, he has broadened his skill-set to contribute in development and design using frameworks such as Node.js, Cesium.js, Mongo DB, Svelte.js, Docker, Git and Linux.

In his spare time he manages and maintains a homelab, hosting a kubernetes cluster that runs a number of micro-services; such services include Grocy, Nextcloud, Home Assistant, BOINC, Digikam, NGINX Proxy Manager and MariaDB. He also partakes in hobbies such as DnD, a tabletop RPG, and photography.
